Yo fam. Color realism is hard lol.
This year I had the pleasure of attending a color realism seminar with the great and powerful Deanna James. Such a dope experience!
The Eden EDU events are so well put together. I’m super impressed every time. I’ve attended the Winter symposium as well a couple years ago and this was also an amazing experience.
As some of you know I do paint, so this seminar showed the similarities between painting and tattooing thru Deanna’s technique.
There were a handful of simple techniques that were explained during this process that really opened my eyes to more possibilities.
Some vets and a handful of young tattooers! It’s always awesome to be in a room full of buzzing creative energy. I’ve really had a great time hearing and listening to young tattooers. I’m really trying my hardest not to get caught in the old fart mentality of hating.
It’s better to embrace the change and evolve as things change. This industry has tons to offer as long as you are open. Even a tatter tot can put us ol’ heads on to some new dope shit.
These were the first two roses done with the new technique. I’m super pumped and even more excited to do more. It’s still a little stressful, but not nearly as much as prior to the seminar.
These color tattoos were also done using the same technique. Kind of a bit of a leap because of the complexity of the subject matter. This is literally just the beginning! I know as time goes these will become easier and easier.
The goal is definitely to do more and keep the creative energy flowing. Ultimately being able to create something original that I can contribute is the main mission. I can finally see it in the distance! Now to find more canvas’ down to experiment with me.
Thanks yall and happy holidays. Can’t wait to get down some more dope shiiii. 🙌🏾
